Living Downtown makes this a neighborhood event! All summer long, enjoy free concerts every Friday on the gorgeous riverfront. Lucky you—Friday After 5 has been named one of the “Top Ten Summer Festivals” in Kentucky! The festival features six different venues of free entertainment throughout the legendary Smothers Park. Live bands, family events, food trucks, shopping, entertainment, and the signature “Toast to the Sunset” means summer fun for everyone at Friday After 5.

Classy & classic cars, hot rods, and trucks line up in Downtown Owensboro for your amazement. You may even see vehicles that bring back memories of your youth. 2nd Street and Veterans Boulevard become the walking gallery for this display of gleaming motor-power.

A Celebration of the American Spirit</span
If you live Downtown, it’s like watching the Fourth of July fireworks from your own backyard! It all happens at the riverfront: food vendors available along Veterans Boulevard, patriotic music performed by the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and glorious fireworks launched from a river barge. Gates open at 6 pm, followed by speeches, Color Guard, and fireworks accompanied by music at 9.
Haunts of Owensboro

If you might believe in ghosts, if you want to hear more about history and haunts in Owensboro, take the walking or carriage ride tour of Downtown buildings rumored to be haunted and hear the tales of true-life ghostly events. But only if you dare! Tours are led by our local expert, David Wolfe. Reservations for individuals or groups and credit card prepayment are required.
Owensboro Air Show
September 14-16, 2018
Excitement and awe is the name of the game every September when the U.S. Navy & Marine Corps Blue Angels roar into town for this exciting weekend. You will be right where the action is for the fly-over and airshow along the riverfront. Viewing areas in Smothers Park and English Park or special reserved seating available at the Owensboro Convention Center puts you front row for the daring air shows on Saturday and Sunday. The festive air is enhanced by plenty of food and drink vendors there for the event.
Halloween Trail of Treats
October — Thursday before Halloween 5:30 – 8 pm.
Get ready for all the fun of Halloween. Trick-or-treat from over 60 creatively decorated booths set up by local businesses and organizations, and enjoy meet-and-greet with some of your favorite characters! This fun, family-friendly evening is a great community event that allows children to participate in safe Halloween activities, and it happens right here in Downtown Owensboro and Smothers Park.
Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade
Saturday before Thanksgiving
Happening right here in Downtown Owensboro, the Christmas Parade is full of excitement and celebrity to appeal to the young and young-at-heart. Some say it’s where Kentucky starts Christmas since it’s the first Christmas parade to take place in the state and one of the area’s largest. What a terrific way to set off the holiday season!
First Saturday in December
The Downtown streets are filled with the holiday spirit. Strolling carolers, storefront decorations, family-friendly events, and indoor performers make this evening a dazzling Christmas tradition. And prepare to be awed as the Christmas tree is lit at 5 pm in Smothers Park. Enjoy holiday shopping and festive dining along Second and Third streets from Daviess to St. Ann. 4-8 pm.
