Today, we were proud and honored to deliver a historical cornerstone to the members of the American Legion, Post #9 in Owensboro, Kentucky. The cornerstone was part of the old American Legion Post located at 118 West Veterans Blvd. Built in 1935 the cornerstone was placed in the structure on the northwest exterior corner of the building. When Jagoe Homes purchased the building many members of the American Legion requested that Jagoe recover the cornerstone so that they could have this historical marker of the building. It had been rumoured by many members that the cornerstone encased a time capsule, dating back to 1935. To everyone’s delight the cornerstone in fact did encase a time capsule. Think about it, this amazing piece of history pre-dates World War II.

A simple article in a newspaper can make a difference in a child’s life in the classroom. At Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School in Bowling Green, our New Home Sales Consultant, Mark Froehlich, recently paid a visit to Ms. Woods’ first grade class. Mark passed out actual currency to the class and played a game with them to teach them how budgeting works and how to save money on larger purchases, such as a home.
Mark received a letter from Ms. Woods, thanking him for his inspiring and educating lesson which reads:
Thank you for sponsoring The Daily News for my classroom. The students are excited to see the newspaper delivered each week. They use it to find sentences, paragraphs, and punctuation marks. They enjoy highlighting words they know and counting to see how many. Kid Scoop, their favorite [column], is an excellent way to practice grammar skills while having fun. Thanks so much for supporting my class by providing the newspaper each week.”
Jagoe Homes’ Online Concierge, Jennifer Lucas, and her sister in-law, Jill Payne, and both of their families were recently honored in Owensboro Living for their touching, and unique story of bringing new life into the world. Jill Payne offered to carry her brother and her sister-in law’s biological child. A surrogate is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as, “a substitute, especially a person deputizing for another in a specific role or office,” but for the Lucas and Payne families, this was something much more.
Jennifer and Matt were married in July of 2011 and knew that they wanted to add to their family immediately. Jennifer’s daughter Morgan (through her first marriage) was also eager to become a big sister. Due to complications during Morgan’s delivery, they quickly realized that growing their family would not be as easy as they hoped. At this point, Jennifer had to spend more time away from the Jagoe Homes office for intense fertility treatments. Each treatment was heartbreaking, as none of the treatments worked. Cheryl Judd, our Customer Service and Warranty Manager at Jagoe Homes who shared the same corner of the office with Jenifer, says that, “it was difficult to watch their family go through such a tiresome process. I’m not sure how, but Jennifer remained hopeful and up-beat around the office.”
Jagoe Homes will, once again, be a part of Christ the King’s annual Jingle Mingle Mart! Christ the King & Holy Spirit Church will host this event on Friday, November 13th, 2015, from 5-9PM at 3101 Bayard Park Drive, Evansville, Indiana, 47714. The Jingle Mingle Mart has become the primary fundraising source for their school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), which provides a multitude of resources for the teachers and the students of Christ the King that would not otherwise fit into their annual budget.

This event will also feature live music, hors d-oeuvres, a cash bar, photo booth, and prizes! Project Reveal is a charitable non-profit organization created to help women celebrate all the things that make each of them special and unique. Their mission is to encourage and inspire women by creating awareness about life issues, to provide resources to help them to celebrate, love, and respect themselves, and encourage them to be the best women for themselves, their family, and their community.
Jagoe Homes is proud to sponsor the 5th Annual East Bridge Art & Music Festival. This art festival has truly developed into something spectacular, growing from 30 artists and 3,000 people in 2011, to 75 artists and 8,000 people in 2013. This year, they expect to bring in over 10,000 people to Smother’s Park in downtown Owensboro for the festival on September 5th!
The East Bridge Art & Music Festival began when sisters Katherine Taylor and Christy Taylor Chaney opened their own “art haven” in Owensboro, which is more formally known as Studio Slant. Their love for handmade accessories inspired them to mesh an art gallery with a sort of handmade boutique, full of fun gifts and made by artists with love. Since they also enjoy attending art festivals, they decided to bring one to Owensboro, where the East Bridge Art & Music Festival was born! They named it “east bridge” because the festival was east of the bridge the first four years, and now, in the fifth year, the bridge is east of the festival.
